Basic requirements for lithium battery transportation

(1) Lithium battery and lithium battery pack are classified as category 9 dangerous goods;

(2) All lithium batteries (batteries) must pass the UN38.3 test;

(3) An exception clause is provided for the transportation of lithium batteries for some class 9 dangerous goods;

(4) Strict restrictions are imposed on the transport of samples;

(5) Restrictions on daily use lithium batteries carried by passengers;

(6) All defective or damaged batteries are prohibited from shipping.

Packaging and air and sea transportation requirements for lithium batteries

one Packaging requirements and documentation requirements

(1) Without regard to exceptions, these batteries must be transported in accordance with the restrictions in the rules (packaging instructions applicable to DGR 4.2). They must be packed in the UN specification package specified in DGR dangerous goods regulations according to the applicable packaging instructions, and the corresponding number shall be fully displayed on the package.

(2) The package meeting the requirements must be labeled with class 9 hazard in addition to the mark of the applicable proper shipping name and UN number.

(3) The dangerous goods declaration form must be filled in by the consignor.

Provide the transportation identification report issued by the third organization which has obtained the certification, and show that the products meet the standards (including UN38.3 test and 1.2m drop packaging test).

two Air transportation requirements for lithium batteries

(1) The tank must pass the UN 38.3 test requirements and 1.2m drop packaging test;

(2) The dangerous goods declaration document provided by the shipper shall be marked with UN number;

(3) The outer package must be labeled with class 9 dangerous goods and labeled with the operation label of "full cargo transport only";

(4) Its design should ensure that it can prevent bursting under normal transportation conditions and be equipped with effective measures to prevent external short circuit;

(5) The battery shall be protected from short circuit in a strong outer package, and contact with conductive substances that may cause short circuit shall be prevented in the same package.

(6) Additional requirements for transportation of batteries installed in equipment:

The equipment shall be fixed to prevent the battery from moving inside the package in such a way as to prevent the battery from accidentally starting during transportation. The outer packaging shall be waterproof, or be made waterproof by the use of inner lining (e.g. plastic bags), unless the equipment itself is already waterproof.

(7) Lithium batteries should be loaded on pallets to avoid strong vibration during handling. Corner protectors should be used to protect the vertical and horizontal sides of the tray;

(8) The weight of single package is less than 35 kgs;

(9) Attention to airline operation:

1. Full cargo transport only

4. Inform the first person on site of the type and quantity of batteries in the cargo hold

The FAA of the United States requires that lithium batteries should be loaded in the cargo hold of the aircraft with class C. the cargo compartment must be equipped with smoke detection system, alarm system and fire extinguishing system.

three Shipping requirements for lithium batteries
